President Rodrigo Duterte has given two telecommunication companies in the Philippines until December to improve their service.
President Duterte mentions the Globe Telecom and Smart Communications during the fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, saying he is already living in the country for so many years but there are still no changes happening in their service.
The President also warns the two telecommunication companies that he will force them to shut down if they will not improve their service until December 2020. He also said that these companies should not give their subscribers a lousy service when they are paying them right and on time.

Duterte said,
“Ang Smart pati Globe, ilang taon na ito? At ang sagot palagi sa akin, ‘cannot be reached’. Saan napunta ‘yong yawa na ‘yon?If you are not ready to improve, I might just as well close all of you. We’ll revert back to line.”
He added,
“The patience of the Filipino people is reaching its limit and I will be the one to articulate the anger of the Filipino people… Kindly improve the services before December… I want to call Jesus Christ to Bethlehem, better have that line cleared. Kayo ang may pera, p**** tapos you give us half-cooked deals, lousy service.”

Filipinos have long complained about the slow and expensive internet in the country but until now, the telecommunication companies are still not making a way to improve their internet.
The telecommunication companies keep on promising to their subscribers that they will do everything they could to improve their services but there's still no changes happen until now as the internet is still slow and expensive.

Many Filipinos hope that the warning of President Duterte will make the telecommunication companies to do their job right and give them a fast internet connection that they deserve.
