Senator Richard "Dick" Gordon seems to not like the innuendo of President Rodrigo Duterte against Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon.
President Duterte mentioned the Senator during his fifth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 27, accus1ng the latter of defending the Lopezes. The President also told that Drilon is an oligarch which is the reason why he got mad when Kapamilya's franchise renewal was denied.
Duterte said the media was being used by the "oligarchs" to control the politics in the country, but he was now able to dismantle an oligarchy without declaring martial law as the Congress already denied the franchise application of ABS-CBN Network.

President Duterte said,
"You know Drilon, stand it - he was defending... I would like to ask Drilon, were you a part of ACCRA when this contract of Ayala water was being drafted? And why are you fumig4ting? Bakit kasi ikaw lang ang g4lit? Na sabi mo na dynasty-dynasty. You are a hyp0crite.
"You know that you cannot pass an anti-dynasty law. Ikaw ang nandiyan sa Congress, di ikaw ang mauna dito. But you know, to take it against me for protecting my country is something which I really resent. Alam mo you described using the dictionary the synonym ng mga oligarchs, oligarchy, kung ano, then you proceeded to characterized everyone every - every name and then said that oligarchy is not bad at all because sa - not all oligarchies are bad..

"This is the oligarchy that controls the Philippines by what? By taking control of the water and the electricity and power. Iyan ang oligarchy mo Drilong. Wala ng oligarchy dito except that. They have controlled.

"How can you now craft a new contract. Because I would insist that you pay the billions and billions that you collected. For example, water treatment. Ilang bilyon na nga wala ni isa, not even a faucet was build for a water treatment facility.

"You do not protect the oligarchs here. You are the one. Ikaw lang mag-isa. And I susp3ct that you were also the one - or helped when you were there in the ACCRA."
Meanwhile, Senator Gordon slammed the President for what she said against his fellow Senator, saying the statement of Duterte is very unpresidential. Gordon added that the President might really have a huge grudge over Drilon but Duterte should not say it in the public, especially for a senator who only speaks for those who are vulnerable and defending the freedom of the press.

Gordon said,
"I think he should've stuck to the mesage. Una pa lang bungad eh binanatan niya agad si Senador Drilon which I thing was unpresidential. Siguro talagang malaki yung g4lit niya, pero hindi dapat niya ilalabas sa publiko yung g4lit niya sa isang tao, lalo isang senador who is called upon to speak for those who are vulnerable."
