President Duterte, Nangako Na Paparusahan Ang Mga C0rrupt Officials Ng PhilHealth

During the recent meeting of IATF in Davao City, President Rodrigo Duterte promised to pun1sh the officials of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) if they were found guilty of pocketing the money that is supposed to be given for the people and needs of the country.

But he clarified that the innocent people working in PhilHealth should not bother and pushed them to continue their job.

Duterte said,

“Huwag kayong magkakamali, itong PhilHealth. Sabi ko, yayariin ko kayo. Maniwala kayo. Yung mga inosente naman wala kayong dapat i-ano, tahimik lang kayo at continue working.”

He added,

“Pero ‘yung mga ito, kung nakalusot kayo sa ibang President o dito sa akin, sadsad talaga kayo, maniwala talaga kayo and with the help of cabinet members ko.”

Recently, the President ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to conduct an investigation by forming a task force to repress the alleged c0rruption happening in the government-owned corporation.

The issue about PhilHealth began when former anti-fraud legal officer Thorrsson Montes Keith pointed out that some officials of PhilHealth pocketed P15-B.

Meanwhile, the President of PhilHealth, Ricardo Morales, asked for a leave amid the investigation that the senate will do in the government-owned corporation.

In an interview with CNN, Morales said,

“If you look at the history of this corporation, ang bilis magpalit ng CEO, causing delays. I did not want to resign, because we will be implementing Universal Health Care law, and then we were hit by C0VID. It is not wise to change the course in the middle of the road.”

He added,

“But nature has intervened. I will take the doctor’s advice. I already relayed to my boss my intentions. It is up for them to decide. It is medical leave.”

Morales insisted his innocence despite his medical leave, saying that he can show his properties to prove that he is not the one pocketing the funds of PhilHealth.
